Aaliyah

Aaliyah

Aaliyah Dana Haughton was an American singer, actress, dancer, and model, celebrated as the Princess of R and B and Queen of Urban Pop. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Detroit, she began her career young, gaining early recognition on Star Search and performing with Gladys Knight. At 12, she signed her first record deal and released the debut album "Age Ain't Nothing but a Number" in 1994, which achieved double platinum status. Aaliyah rose to fame with groundbreaking albums like "One in a Million," produced with Timbaland and Missy Elliott, and her self-titled final album, both earning critical and commercial success. She expanded her career into acting with roles in "Romeo Must Die" and "Queen of the Damned." Her hit single "Try Again" made history as the first song to top the Billboard Hot 100 based solely on airplay. Tragically, Aaliyah died in a plane crash at age 22 in 2001. Her influence on R and B, pop, and hip hop remains significant, with lasting popularity and several posthumous releases. She won three American Music Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, and received five Grammy nominations, selling over 24 million albums worldwide.
