AKG C 411 PP Instrumentkondensatormikrofon

The AKG C411 PP is a miniature condenser vibration pickup that captures acoustic guitar, mandolin, violin and other string instruments directly through the body of the instrument — bypassing the feedback problems that plague conventional stage microphones. Its pre-polarized condenser element delivers a clean, uncolored signal across a full 10 Hz to 18 kHz frequency range, while the ultralight 18 g pickup preserves the instrument's natural balance during performance.

  • Pre-polarized condenser transducer in a sealed enclosure
  • Bidirectional Figure 8 polar pattern
  • Standard 3-pin female XLR output for 9-52 V phantom power
  • Includes nonmarking adhesive pad and microphone bag

AKG C411 PP — Miniature Condenser Vibration Pickup for Acoustic Instruments

The AKG C411 PP is a miniature condenser vibration pickup for acoustic guitar, mandolin, violin and other string instruments. Unlike clip-on microphones, this contact pickup senses the instrument's mechanical vibrations directly through its body, delivering a clean, uncolored signal. The C411 PP solves feedback problems in loud stage environments, and its ultralight 18 g element preserves the instrument's natural balance.

What Sets this model Apart from Piezo Contact Mics

Most contact pickups use piezo elements, which limit frequency response and add midrange honk. This instrument uses a pre-polarized condenser transducer that reproduces the instrument's sound with extended low-end reach down to 10 Hz and a smooth top end out to 18 kHz. The included nonmarking, solvent-free adhesive pad mounts the pickup near the bridge in seconds, and the 3 m cable terminates in a standard 3-pin female XLR.

Transducer Design — Why a Condenser Element Matters

The transducer is the heart of any contact pickup, and the pre-polarized condenser capsule delivers a frequency response most piezo pickups cannot match. Players get a full-range signal capturing body resonance, not just surface vibrations.

  • Transducer Type: Pre-polarized condenser — captures extended low and high frequencies that piezo elements typically miss.
  • Figure 8 polar pattern refers to a bidirectional pickup that responds to vibration from both sides of the mounting surface.
  • Frequency Range: 10 Hz - 18 kHz — full-range response reaching well below the audible floor

Output & Powering — Plug-and-Play with Standard Phantom Power

This pickup drops into any professional audio chain without adapters. It accepts the same 9-52 V phantom power that studio condensers use.

  • Connector: MPAV standard 3-pin female XLR — direct connection to mixers and audio interfaces.
  • 9-52 V phantom power ensures compatibility with virtually any mixer or interface.
  • Current Draw: approx. 2.2 mA — light load that won't tax portable phantom power supplies

Physical Design — Lightweight Enough to Stay Invisible on Stage

The pickup element weighs just 18 g, so it adds virtually no mass to the instrument. Players can leave it mounted between sets without worrying about neck dive.

  • Pickup Weight: 18 g — ultralight element preserves the instrument's natural balance.
  • 3 m of cable length is provided to reach a stage floor mixer or nearby audio interface.
  • Package Contents: Microphone, Adhesive Material, Gig Bag — everything needed to mount and transport the pickup

Who Should Buy This Miniature Condenser Pickup

This pickup is the right choice for acoustic string players who perform in loud venues where feedback is a constant problem. Acoustic guitarists, mandolin players, violinists, and handpan players will appreciate how the pickup isolates the instrument from stage monitors. Sound designers and field recordists also choose this model because its 10 Hz-18 kHz response captures surface vibrations that handheld and shotgun microphones cannot reach.
