Pixies are an influential American alternative rock band from Boston, formed in 1986 by Black Francis, Joey Santiago, Kim Deal, and David Lovering. Known for their dynamic loud-quiet-loud sound and surreal, offbeat lyrics, they blend punk, surf, and pop influences. Though only modestly popular in the United States during their early years, Pixies gained a strong following in Europe and went on to inspire bands like Nirvana and Radiohead. After breaking up in the early 1990s, Pixies reunited in 2004 for a successful run of sold-out tours. Following several bass player changes, Emma Richardson joined in 2024. Their ninth studio album, The Night the Zombies Came, was released in October 2024.
