Edifier R20BT Hi-Fi-bokhyllehøyttaler White

Compact USB-Powered Bookshelf Speaker for Clutter-Free Desks

The Edifier R20BT White is a near-field desktop speaker that pairs a slim 1.40 kg cabinet with a single-cable USB-C connection, so power and digital audio travel through one lead straight from a laptop or PC. Built around redesigned 2.75-inch full-range drivers and flared bass reflex ports housed in MDF enclosures, this model is tuned to deliver balanced sound across 73 Hz to 20 kHz at 5 W RMS total output. The white finish blends into clean workspace aesthetics, and the 83 mm wide footprint slips next to a monitor without crowding the desk.

Standout Features That Set This Speaker Apart

What makes the R20BT White stand out in the entry-level desktop segment is the combination of Bluetooth 6.0 multipoint pairing, app-controlled RGB ambient lighting with a beat-sync mode, and a 4-pole 3.5 mm headphone jack that supports headsets with or without a microphone. The EDIFIER ConneX mobile app and EDIFIER TempoHub computer app expose a 6-band parametric EQ, three onboard presets, and per-channel lighting customization that deeper-priced competitors rarely include at this tier.

Acoustic Performance — Sound Profile Drivers

Sound quality at close range depends heavily on driver size, cabinet stiffness, and bass port tuning. The 2.75-inch full-range units paired with flared bass reflex ports push low frequencies down to 73 Hz, which is unusual for a USB-only speaker and gives music and dialogue genuine warmth without a subwoofer.

• Total Output Power (RMS): 2.5 W + 2.5 W — comfortable listening at desk distances without distortion.
• Driver: 2.75" (70 mm) full-range — single-cone design handles highs, mids, and bass.
• Frequency Response: 73 Hz – 20 kHz — covers the full vocal band and most musical fundamentals.
• Background hiss stays inaudible during quiet passages thanks to a signal-to-noise ratio of ≥ 85 dB (A).

Connectivity — Bluetooth, USB-C, AUX Sources

Modern desk setups switch between a computer, a phone, and headphones several times a day, so flexible input options matter more than raw wattage. Bluetooth 6.0 with multipoint support runs two devices at once, while the USB-C port streams digital audio directly from a laptop.

• Audio Inputs: Bluetooth, USB-C, AUX — three paths to the same speaker.
• Bluetooth Version: 6.0 with multipoint — stable link and dual-device standby.
• Codecs: SBC — universal compatibility across phones, tablets, and laptops.
• Wired headsets, including those with inline microphones, work through the front 4-pole 3.5 mm jack.

Build and Placement — Cabinet Cable Setup

The enclosure is the foundation of any compact speaker, and MDF wood plus a bass reflex port is a deliberate choice to keep resonance and coloration under control. Sized for shallow desks, the cabinet sits just 121 mm deep and ships with generous cabling for flexible placement.

• Cabinet Material: MDF — denser than plastic, suppresses unwanted vibration.
• Bass Port: Flared bass reflex — reduces port turbulence at higher volumes.
• Dimensions (W × H × D): 83 × 177.2 × 121.1 mm — narrow enough for monitors and laptop stands.
• Net Weight: 1.40 kg — light enough to reposition but heavy enough to stay planted.
• Cable reach includes 1.8 m interconnect, 1.5 m USB, giving room to place each channel on either side of larger desks without stretching.

Who Is It For — Desktop Users Casual Listeners

The Edifier R20BT White is the right choice for desktop users, students, and home-office workers who need a clean one-cable setup without sacrificing Bluetooth convenience for their phone. It serves casual listeners streaming playlists, gamers wanting compact near-field audio, and remote workers taking quick calls through the front-panel headset jack. With app-driven EQ and ambient lighting, it also fits creators who want a flexible sound and visual profile that can be retuned in seconds.

App Ecosystem — Onboard Customization

The companion EDIFIER ConneX mobile app and EDIFIER TempoHub computer app expose a deeper feature set than the touch panel alone. Users can switch inputs, cycle between Classic, Dynamic, and Vocal presets, design custom lighting patterns, and tweak a 6-band EQ. Beat-sync mode ties the ambient lighting rhythm to the music, turning a normally utilitarian speaker into an expressive desktop element.
