Carrying forward the legacy of the original 1963 copper panel design, the VOX AC15 Hand-Wired Greenback is a fully hand-crafted 15-watt combo amplifier voiced with a Celestion G12M Greenback speaker for a punchier, mid-forward tone and faster speaker saturation. Every connection is hand-soldered on a turret board, every component hand-selected — resulting in a refined tribute to the vintage VOX character with the added control of modern features including master volume, a transparent effects loop, and tube-driven spring reverb.

Greenback Voice and EL84 Power Section

Powered by a pair of EL84 tubes delivering 15 watts of output, the AC15 draws its distinctive voice from the phase inverter's musical distortion as the amp is pushed — adding subtle harmonics that set the VOX sound apart from conventional preamp gain. The single 12-inch Celestion G12M Greenback speaker (16 Ω) enhances this character with faster breakup, a throatier midrange, and tighter low end compared to alnico-loaded alternatives. The power supply reproduces the original 1963 "sag" response for natural compression and touch sensitivity.

Normal and Top Boost Channels

The Normal channel delivers warm, full tones with a Bright switch for added clarity, while the Top Boost channel reproduces the classic VOX chime and drive. Unique to this model in the Hand-Wired series, a BOOST switch increases gain and adds midrange growl that pushes the Greenback speaker beautifully, making it easy to achieve rich saturation without extreme volume levels.

Tube-Driven Spring Reverb

The spring reverb runs through its own dedicated tube circuit with a separate output transformer for correct impedance, producing a rich, present reverb that blends naturally with the amp's tone. Level and Tone controls give precise adjustment, and the reverb is footswitchable for live use.

Stage and Studio Versatility

The FET-buffered effects loop integrates delay, reverb, and modulation pedals cleanly even when the amp is pushed, and can be fully bypassed for a direct signal path. Rear-panel extension outputs allow connection to external cabinets or attenuators. The 12 mm birch ply cabinet weighs approximately 22,7 kg with dimensions of 591 × 263 × 567 mm.
