Yamaha MGP32X A Miksebord

Built for touring rigs, theatres and permanent installations, MGP32X A is the large-format model of Yamaha's hybrid analogue console line. It handles 32 line inputs (24 mono, 4 stereo) with microphone inputs on 24 channels, each with switchable 48 V phantom power and a 100 Hz high-pass filter. Class-A D-PRE preamps, X-pressive EQ and 16 channels of 1-Knob compression are backed by REV-X and SPX effects, master graphic EQ and a multi-band compressor. Two-track USB recording and playback are built in.

MGP32X A is the large-format model of Yamaha's hybrid analogue console line, built for touring rigs, theatres and permanent installations where channel count matters as much as sound quality. It provides 32 line inputs, 24 of them mono and 4 stereo, with microphone inputs on 24 channels, each offering switchable 48 V phantom power and a 100 Hz high-pass filter. Mixing runs through a stereo bus, 4 group buses and 6 AUX sends, with 2 matrix outputs and insert points on all 24 mono channels for external processing.

Microphone Preamps

All 24 microphone inputs run through discrete class-A D-PRE preamplifiers with an inverted Darlington circuit, delivering natural low-end weight and headroom for demanding sources. The measured noise floor reaches -128 dBu equivalent input noise with -92 dBu residual output noise, crosstalk stays at -74 dB @ 1 kHz and total harmonic distortion at 0.02% across the audio band.

VCM Equalisation

X-pressive EQ applies Yamaha's Virtual Circuit Modeling to each channel strip, reproducing the tonal behaviour of analogue equaliser circuits. Bands provide up to 15 dB of adjustment, with 8 kHz high shelving, 125 Hz low shelving and a peaking mid that sweeps between 250 Hz and 5 kHz on mono channels. A 100 Hz high-pass filter with a 12 dB/oct slope precedes the equaliser on every input.

1-Knob Compressors

Sixteen channels, from 9 to 24, carry Yamaha 1-Knob Compressors with LED metering. A single control sets the full compression curve, and the processor can be placed before or after the channel fader, which suits both dynamic vocal control and level management on grouped sources.

REV-X and SPX Effects

Two effects engines operate simultaneously. FX1 runs REV-X, Yamaha's high-density reverb algorithm, with 8 programs and adjustable parameters. FX2 supplies 16 SPX programs including delay, chorus, flanger and further modulation effects. Sends AUX5 and AUX6 can be reassigned to feed FX1 and FX2, and the FX-to-FX blend routes one engine into the other.

Ducker and Leveler

Two stereo channels pass through dedicated DSP offering automatic level management. Priority Ducker detects a speech signal on the priority input and pulls the music underneath it, releasing back to normal once the announcement ends. Leveler evens out the volume of successive playback tracks, keeping background material consistent when it comes from mixed sources.

Graphic EQ and Compressor

Master bus processing includes graphic equalisation with two selectable modes: a 9-band Flex EQ with freely positionable bands and a fixed 14-band layout. A multi-band compressor follows on the stereo bus, allowing separate control of low, mid and high dynamics before the signal leaves the console.

USB Capture and Playback

The top panel carries a USB port for direct two-track recording to a USB storage device and playback of WAV and MP3 files. No computer or external interface is required, which makes it practical for archiving performances, capturing rehearsals or running walk-in music.

Inputs, Outputs and Inserts

Insert sockets are fitted to all 24 mono channels and to the stereo output. Stereo out, mono out and the 6 AUX sends use balanced XLR connectors with +4 dBu nominal level and +24 dBu before clipping, while group outputs, matrix outputs and the monitor output use impedance-balanced jacks at +20 dBu maximum. A talkback microphone input and a headphone output rated 75 mW into 40 Ohm are also provided.

Metal Chassis and Universal Supply

The console is housed in an impact-resistant powder-coated metal chassis measuring 1027 x 565 x 169 mm and weighing 19 kg. Its internal universal power supply covers 100 - 240 V at 50/60 Hz with 86 W maximum consumption, so the mixer operates reliably worldwide, including locations with unstable mains voltage.
