D'Addario PB039 Gitarstreng

Phosphor Bronze .039" Replacement String for Acoustic Guitar

The D'Addario PB039 is a single .039" gauge wound string designed specifically for acoustic guitar. Part of the Phosphor Bronze series that D'Addario pioneered in 1974, this string is precision wound with corrosion-resistant phosphor bronze over a carefully drawn, hexagonally shaped high-carbon steel core. The result is a string that delivers the warm, bright, and well-balanced acoustic tone the series is known for, with excellent intonation and long-lasting performance. Available as a standalone replacement or for players building custom string sets, it fits any acoustic guitar that uses a ball-end string in this gauge position.

Who It's For

This single string is the right choice for acoustic guitarists who need a replacement in the .039" gauge position or who want to build a custom string set tailored to their playing style. It suits players who prefer the warm, balanced tone of phosphor bronze over brighter 80/20 bronze alternatives. The hex-core construction provides tuning stability and consistent intonation across the fretboard, making it suitable for both strumming and fingerpicking styles. Whether replacing a broken string, experimenting with custom gauges, or building a cigar box guitar setup, this single offers the same quality and tone as the full D'Addario Phosphor Bronze sets.
