Michael Nyman is an influential English composer, pianist, and musicologist, celebrated for his distinctive film scores, especially his collaborations with Peter Greenaway and the widely acclaimed soundtrack to The Piano. He has created numerous operas, including The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and Facing Goya, as well as concerti, string quartets, and a range of chamber works—many performed with the Michael Nyman Band.
