Bob Seger

Bob Seger

Robert Clark Seger, born May 6, 1945, is a retired American singer, songwriter, and musician best known as a leading figure in heartland and roots rock. Emerging from Detroit’s local music scene, he first found success in the 1960s with groups like Bob Seger and the Last Heard and the Bob Seger System, achieving his first national hit with Ramblin' Gamblin' Man in 1969. In the 1970s, Seger reached national fame after forming the Silver Bullet Band, releasing classic albums like Live Bullet and Night Moves. Known for his distinctly raspy, powerful voice, Seger’s music often reflects themes of working-class life, love, and nostalgia. His many hits include Night Moves, Turn the Page, Against the Wind, Mainstreet, Like a Rock, and Shakedown, the latter topping the US charts. His recording of Old Time Rock and Roll is considered one of the most iconic songs in rock history, and he co-wrote the Eagles’ number one hit Heartache Tonight. With over 75 million records sold worldwide, Seger ranks among the best-selling artists of all time. He was inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and received Billboard’s Legend of Live honor in 2015. Seger concluded his career with a farewell tour in 2018 and 2019.
