The Oktava MK-102 is a large diaphragm condenser with interchangeable capsule built upon the renowned MK-012 transformerless circuitry.
The microphone features a small profile, 27.5mm, 5-micron diaphragm and an end-facing design to eliminate body reflections. The MK-102 offers a smooth and extended frequency response with clean and accurate top end, qualities not typically found in modern large diaphragm microphones. The design also reduces reflections between the microphone and the sound source – the body of MK-102 disappears completely behind the capsule.
The sound of the microphone can be described as saturated, rich, a bit mellow, but full of body and character. Without sounding too thick or muddy the MK-102 is able to capture all the nuances of a vocal performance.
Great for recording: speech, vocals, snare drums and acoustic guitar.
Because of it’s flat frequency response from 0 to 180 degrees, the MK-102 makes an excellent overhead and drum room microphone, capturing perfectly the natural ambience.
