Henry Mancini, born Enrico Nicola Mancini on April 16, 1924, was a celebrated American composer, conductor, arranger, pianist, and flutist. He is renowned for his iconic film and television scores, including "The Pink Panther Theme," "Moon River" from Breakfast at Tiffany's, and the Peter Gunn theme. Mancini's work earned him four Academy Awards, twenty Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. He was a frequent collaborator with director Blake Edwards and achieved mainstream success with a chart-topping hit, the "Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet," in 1969. Mancini remains a towering figure in the history of film music.
