Alexander David Turner, born in 1986, is an acclaimed English musician best known as the lead vocalist and primary songwriter of Arctic Monkeys. Renowned for his sharp lyricism and inventive wordplay, Turner has been a defining voice in modern rock. Since forming the band in 2002 with three friends, he has seen nearly all of his albums reach number one on the UK Albums Chart and collected several major awards, including seven Brit Awards, an Ivor Novello Award, and a Mercury Prize. Arctic Monkeys’ debut, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, became the fastest-selling debut in British history, while later works like AM have earned spots on Rolling Stone's greatest albums lists. Turner has explored a wide range of genres with Arctic Monkeys, from indie and desert rock to R and B and lounge music. Alongside his work with the band, he co-founded The Last Shadow Puppets, releasing two orchestral pop albums with Miles Kane, and contributed a solo soundtrack to the film Submarine. Turner is also known for his behind-the-scenes work, notably co-writing and producing Alexandra Savior’s debut album.
