The Avengers are a punk rock band from San Francisco, formed in 1977. Known for their energetic style, they released the influential EP We Are the One and played with the Sex Pistols before splitting in 1979. Their recordings with Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols were later released, followed by a self-titled album in 1983. Lead singer Penelope Houston also has a solo career in folk music. Since the late nineties, the band has reunited for select performances and released several compilations of studio and live tracks.
