Nicholas James Murphy, born in 1988, is an Australian singer and songwriter best known as Chet Faker. He first gained attention in 2012 with his debut EP Thinking in Textures, earning major independent music awards in Australia. His soulful cover of No Diggity received international exposure after being featured in a Super Bowl commercial. In 2014, Murphy released his debut album Built on Glass, which topped the Australian charts and produced several hit tracks, including Talk Is Cheap. In 2016, he began releasing music under his own name, putting out the acclaimed album Run Fast Sleep Naked and an instrumental project, Music for Silence. In 2020, Murphy returned to his Chet Faker moniker with new music, continuing to evolve his unique blend of electronic, soul, and indie sounds.
