Irving Sidney Duke Jordan was an influential American jazz pianist, born in 1922 and active for several decades. Known for his elegant and lyrical playing style, he gained prominence as a member of Charlie Parker’s classic quintet in the late 1940s and contributed to many notable recordings. Throughout his career, Jordan collaborated with key figures in bebop and continued to record and perform internationally, particularly in Europe, where he later lived. His work is celebrated for its subtlety and lasting impact on modern jazz piano.
