Gilbert O'Sullivan, born Raymond Edward O'Sullivan in 1946 in Waterford, Ireland, is a renowned Irish singer-songwriter best known for his early 1970s hits such as "Alone Again Naturally," "Clair," and "Get Down." Recognized for his unique percussive piano style and clever, observational lyrics, he became one of the leading artists of his era. After moving to Swindon, England as a child, he launched his music career in 1967 and went on to achieve 16 international top 40 hits, including six number one singles. Over his career, O'Sullivan has released 19 studio albums and was named top UK male singer in 1972 by Record Mirror. He is also a recipient of three Ivor Novello Awards, including Songwriter of the Year.
