Portishead is an influential English electronic band formed in Bristol in 1991, featuring vocalist Beth Gibbons, multi-instrumentalist and producer Geoff Barrow, and guitarist Adrian Utley. Known for blending hip-hop beats with moody, cinematic soundscapes and haunting vocals, their debut album Dummy became a defining release in the trip-hop genre, even as the band distanced themselves from that label. They have released two more acclaimed studio albums, Portishead and Third, as well as the renowned live recording Roseland NYC Live. Their innovative, atmospheric style continues to inspire artists across genres.
