Selena

Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was an American singer-songwriter and a pioneering figure in Latin music, widely known as the Queen of Tejano Music. As the youngest member of the Quintanilla family, she began her career with the band Selena y Los Dinos alongside her siblings. Despite initial challenges in the male-dominated Tejano genre, Selena rose to fame after repeatedly winning the Tejano Music Award for Female Vocalist of the Year. Her albums, including Entre a Mi Mundo and Amor Prohibido, brought Tejano music to mainstream audiences, with hits like Como la Flor becoming emblematic of her legacy. In 1994, she became the first female Tejano artist to win a Grammy Award. Recognized for her bold fashion and charismatic stage presence, the media often referred to her as the Tejano Madonna. Selena’s life was tragically cut short in 1995, but her influence endures. Her final album, Dreaming of You, made history by debuting at number one on the Billboard 200. She has sold about 18 million records worldwide and is remembered as one of the most celebrated and influential Latin artists of all time. Her story has been honored in film and television, inspiring generations of fans and musicians.
