Stanley Turrentine was an influential American jazz tenor saxophonist and record producer known for his rich, blues-infused sound. Rising from R&B roots with Earl Bostic, he became a key figure in soul jazz through his work with Blue Note Records in the 1960s and later explored jazz fusion on CTI in the 1970s. Turrentine frequently collaborated with organist Shirley Scott during their marriage and also recorded with his brother, trumpeter Tommy Turrentine. His expressive tone and soulful style left a lasting mark on modern jazz.
