Guided by Voices is an indie rock band from Dayton, Ohio, formed in 1983 and led by singer-songwriter Robert Pollard. Known for their ever-changing lineup, the band is best recognized for its classic mid-90s roster featuring Pollard, his brother Jim, Mitch Mitchell, Tobin Sprout, Kevin Fennell, and Greg Demos. Drawing inspiration from British Invasion, garage rock, punk, and psychedelia, Guided by Voices became icons of the lo-fi movement, recording quick, melodic songs with minimal, home-based production. Their prolific output includes over forty albums and has earned them a loyal cult following. Despite multiple breakups, Pollard has kept the band active, consistently releasing new music with changing members well into the present.
